I'M GONNA STAND UP AND SAY IT....!!!!

...MY KIDS ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!

when i originally took this week off of work, i was really hoping that the kids' day care would be open. i know that sounds horrible, but i had planned on this week to be a week of cleaning/organizing/crafting/scrapbooking/etc. instead it has been a week of bickering/complaining/me screaming and yelling/and no sleep due to coughing all night b/c of my sinues.

the past week has also made me ask myself the following questions:

1. why oh why can't they just get along?? is this some kind of payback for the way me and my brothers got along??

2. why oh why can't mikey lose the attitude? where did this come from (okay, yes, i know, i'm prolly partly to blame, but sheesh!!)

3. why oh why do they have to be sooo demanding??? don't they see that i am on the puter blogging? do they really need a drink the moment on log on???

4. why oh why doesn't pier one have shopping carts?? this leads to lazy bella-boo wanting to be held and then gets all fidgety b/c she wants to run around all the breakables.

5. why oh why does mikey have to scream and yell at his sister worse then we do???

6. why oh why couldn't their daycare have been open this week????

due to all of this, i think i will be having one of these tonight after the "angels" are tucked in bed and are visiting dream land ;)

BELLA'S FIRST DENTIST APPT!!!!

today the kiddos had a dentist appointment and it was lil bella-boo's first!!! of course she had no idea what this was all about and i was only hoping that she would take it better then i did/do (i'll have to get the picture from my mom of my first dentist appt...you can see the tears in my eyes. it never did get better, i still break out into a sweat when i have to go. this is prolly due to having a couple of oral surgeries, 6 teeth pulled at once, braces for four years, a shitty orthodontist, and i still have crooked teeth...oh well, enough about me).

so the kiddos get called back. i had moment of brief panic b/c they were called to go back by themselves. i explained to the nurse that i wanted to take pictures of bella and she said that was fine, but she was going to tend to mikey first and wanted bella to see how it worked. when they were done, they would call me back. i really kinda like that this dentist's office has the policy that the kids go by themselves. the kiddos are able to relax, and i am able to have a free minute to look at the magazines (note: we had to wait for about 30 minutes and the kiddos were really becoming restless, so magazines to myself was a godsend).

so i finally get called back and i'm told that both the kids are cavity free (hooray!) and bella did fine with her check up. now bella's first appt. was supposed to be a check up only, but this great dentist said that since he knew that we lived pretty far out, he would go ahead and give her a cleaning. plus, he said, this would keep the kids appts at the same time (okay, have i mentioned that i luv this guy yet? maybe if i woulda had a dentist like him when i was growing up, i still wouldn't break a sweat and hold on to the chair for dear life like i do).

so they gave bella's teeth a good scrubbing and they were sent to get a prize.

i'm so proud of bella. she was such a good lil girl. she did what she was told (say ahhhhh!) and didn't break out in to tears.

that's my girl!!

bella and dr. buddy

say ahhhh!!!

no cavities!!! hooray!!! go pick outta a prize :)

you can see more pictures of the whole shee-bang here.

ELIZABETH!!!

i have just recently fallen in love with my name. when i was little it was too long and only friends gave me nicknames (my mom never called me liz, beth, etc.). i have even been known to not answer teachers in school b/c they would call me "beth" instead of elizabeth.

but now i think its kind of a sexy name (no vanity here ;) this site told me a lil about my name and i'm sure it can tell you everything you wanna know about your name :)

elizabeth

Your name of Elizabeth contributes sensitive, creative, and idealistic qualities to your nature that could be expressed in a variety of literary or artistic fields. You desire harmony and refinement in your environment and in all your personal associations. Although mentally quick and intuitive in recognizing the thoughts and feelings of others, you experience a lack of fluency in verbal expression in responding.

Although the name Elizabeth creates the urge to understand others, we stress that it limits self-expression and self-confidence causing moods. This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the fluid systems, heart, lungs and bronchial area.

oh how very true parts of this are.

MY LIL SAILOR!!

this looks like an innocent, angelic lil girl right???

HA!!

tonight at dinner, we were at the table and bella was complaining that she was finished.

i told her that she needed to eat two more bites of her pizza (the kids have eaten nothing but junk all damn day and even though i know she was prolly full from all the tin popcorn she ate all day, i thought that she needed the nutrition from some pizza).

so she turned toward her plate and said "awwwww damn it!"

in complete "the christmas story"-style (when he says "awwww fuddddggggggge!" except he didn't say fudge).

my head snapped so fast to look at mike, i thought i was going to break my neck. then of course my hands flew up to my mouth before bella saw me bust up laughing.

i'm going to be a bad parent here, but i must admit, it was the funniest thing. that is really the first bad word that she has intentionally said. of course i got blamed for it, but oh well.

better that then something else that she could have heard me say ;)

SELF PORTRAIT TUESDAY PART 3!!!

"reflection" in a silver laddle. which is fitting since i love, love, love to cook.

ya know its funny. for the past week or so, i have been really thinking about why i blog. and wouldn't ya know greta would pose the question "why do YOU blog" (along with posting her reason's as to why she blogs...and yes, i will take credit for it ;)

at first when i started to blog, it was to be a part of this great blogging community. i also wanted a place that i could post pictures of the kiddos and the crafty things that i do on a regular basis. this would allow friends and family members from afar to be able to see what we were up to (and to alleviate the guilt that i carried from not sending enough written letters and pictures to loved ones).

this also enabled me to keep better track of what and when we were doing various family activies. i was using "my space" as an organizational tool. this has helped me when i have had to look back at a certain date/time and i know it will help tremendously when i finally sit down and start to scrapbook again.

there have been times that i have gone weeks without posting and there have been times that i have posted something every day for weeks. before i knew it, a year had passed. a year of my life had been documented. a year had been shared with both friends and family. a year of new friends had been made. a year of new inspirations. a year of me.

but then recently i started to think "am i really sharing ME??" and the answer is yes. and then no. not all of me is shared. i don't think i post enough of the bitchin' and complaining. enough of the feelings that i have swimming inside of my head (and boy, is there a friggin' swim team in here). enough of the tree me (bitchiness and all).

i think this is mostly due to the fact that there are friends and family members out there that read this (not that i would really know since they don't ever comment...HINT HINT).

but does that matter?

i mean this is MY place after all correct? shouldn't i be able to say what i really feel without worrying if i am cussing too much (and believe you me, in real life i cuss like a friggin' sailor. in my blog life, i think maybe i have cussed a total of five times) or being too opinionated about certain things in my life? shouldn't i be able to talk about what i really want to talk about?

i think the answer to all of these questions is yes.

so with that said, in the new year, you may see a difference in "my space". don't worry, i will still be posting about my crafty ventures, still posting pictures of those gorgeous kids of mine, and still posting about all of our family adventures.

but i will now start posting more about ME.

i am also going to stop worrying about how many comments i have (okay, yeah, i know i was practically begging family members/friends to comment...but that's more so i know if they are still checking things out or if i have to start worrying about getting letters and pictures in the mail again). i know that it a completely neurotic and very jr. high, but i don't think that there is one blogger out there that has never been bugged about a post of their's not getting any comments. i mean after all, its nice to know that people out there think that what YOU have to say is interesting.

so i wanna give my girl a big ((((hug)))) and a thanks for really making me look at the reasons i blog and what i really want in a blog.

CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!

as usual, i was the first one up on christmas morning. i still have a hard time falling asleep the night before and i get up entirely too early on christmas morning excited to see the kiddos open up presents (and of course to see what i got too ;)

santa was *very, very* good to us this year. there was a present overload in my living room this year.

look at all those presents!!

mikey taking his first look at what santa brought.

bella taking her first look at what santa brought.

bella's new disney princess dress up box. no that's not her cosmo mix sitting next to her ;)

mikey's new scarf made by mommy.

bella's new scarf made by mommy.

michael's finally gets the soprano's cigar aficiando magazine that has been very, very hard to get.

i get scene it the music addition.

bella gives me a lil christmas smooch.

go packers!

after presents were opened, we were all so hungry from all that hard work. so breakfast was served. we had bagels with cream cheese, fruit, and cinnamon rolls. delish!

my mom got b.c. a tv poker game that came with six different controllers (so no one else could see your cards). it was so much fun to play. i think we played for a couple of hours. this may be something that me and michael will have to invest in.

after playing poker for a couple of hours, it was dinner time. now i know that people usually have turkey or ham for christmas, but it has always been the tradition that we have italian for dinner. so this year's menu consisted of:

my mom's sauce
pork braciole
angel hair pasta
italian salad
garlic bread
homemade pizza
olives
parm cheese dipped in sweet balsalmic vinegar (yum!)
and for dessert
cherry zabaglione tart

dinner was a hit. we were all so stuffed afterward.

lets eat!

and, if you didn't think that it could happen again, it did. while we were at dinner, i noticed that michael was wearing the sticker that came on his shirt. i was rollin'. i couldn't believe the following things: 1. that he could let that happen again. 2. that i didn't notice it before dinner since he had been wearing the shirt for a few hours by the time i noticed it.

now i am going to start keeping track of this and see how many times it will happen.

our family had a very wonderful christmas and i hope that you and yours are having a wonderful time too.

i am off now till jan. 3rd and i have a whole week of activities planned. alot of crafting with the kiddos, some scrapbooking, some organizing, and a lot of fun!

so stay tuned :)

CHRISTMAS EVE!!!

this year was a first for our family. since mom's house was still in the repair stage, i hosted christmas this year. and since i was hosting, i asked mom and b.c if they wanted to stay the night on christmas eve.

we had a light dinner of sandwiches and chips.

then the fun began. i had made some homemade sugar cookies and frosting for me and the kiddos to decorate for santa. it was getting late in the day and i knew that mom and b.c. were on their way. so i decided to make a party out of it. i set out all the sprinkles i have (and boy are there a lot), the homemade icing, and some store bought chocolate frosting and we all sat down and got to work. of course we made a mess and got major sugar highs, but boy did we have fun.

everyone getting ready to decorate.

say "cookie"!

sugar high time!

mikey decorating with black sugar sprinkles...another sugar high example!!

some of our cookie master pieces.

the cookies that mikey choose to leave out for santa. along with a cold glass of milk. yum! hope santa enjoyed them :)

after teeth were brushed and new jama's were put on, we needed to go outside and sprinkle the magic reindeer food so that dancer, prancer, and all the other reindeer could find their way to our house. mikey brought the magic reindeer food from school and now that i have the recipe, we will have to make it every year (don't want santa to ever get lost).

magic reindeer food.

mikey sprinkling it from the porch (it was raining outside). see the magic food?

HANDMADE CHRISTMAS GOODIES!!!

here are a few pics of some of the things that i made this year for christmas presents. i love these picture frames. i bought them at michael's and they are like a partical board frame that is all ready for decorating. i believe the large ones were $4.99 and the small ones were $2.99 (you can't beat that!!!).

i will def. be buying these again.

"the mikey" for my mom. scrapbooking paper for background. wooden stars painted red. paper cutout letters that spell out "mikey".

"the bella" again for my mom. scrapbooking paper for background. buttons above picture. paper cutout letters glued on paper circles adhered to frame with pop-dots.

"love" for michael. one of my most favorite pictures of me and mike. scrapbook paper for background and edges of frame inked with brown ink. the word "love" stamped with typewriter key stamps, glued to paper, and clear page pebbles over stamped letters.

every year on christmas eve, we all exchange ornaments. this year instead of buying ornaments, i made everyone one (which worked out really good b/c from what i hear, it was hard to find ornaments this year. i guess shipments were really low due to the storm...therefore i didn't get an ornament this year).

mom's scrabble ornament.

bella's princess belle ornament.

b.c.'s poker ornament.

mikey's army ornament.

michael's green bay packer ornament.

boy am i glad that bought a TON of the glass ornaments from michael's. i'm really happy with the way they turned out. i'd like to do handmade ornaments from now on. easy-peasy...supa cheap...and from the heart.

how can ya beat that??

SANTA MAKES A STOP AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT!!

after we got back from new orleans (see previous post) and had a nice, long nap, we took the kiddos to the pd to see santa.

a wonderful group of people from pennsylvania (i believe) hired a caterer (one of our officer's brother) to cook for all the police and fire and their families.

santa also made a stop by and brought all the good lil police and fire sons and daughters presents.

it was a good night.

mike, mikey, and bella eating a delish feast.

mikey and bella with santa. do you see the box there to the left??? santa musta thought mikey and bella were a good boy and girl this year.

OUR NEW ORLEANS TRIP (12-17-05 VERSION)!!

a shot of me and mike at pat o's in front of the fountain. as you can tell, i've had a drink or two at this point ;)

okay, finally a free minute to talk about the wonderful weekend we had.

a few weeks ago, me, mike, greta, oneil, pat, and mike g. (tom and penny too, but they were unable to make it) planned a trip to new orleans. we were all a lil curious as to what it was going to be like since the storm, but we were very suprised to see that everything was kinda back to normal in that respect. bars, shops, restaurants, etc. were open (if you are wanting to plan a trip and would like to know what is open, you can check it out here).

we got there about noon and were a lil disappointed in the rain, but that was okay. we headed on over to port of call for hamburgers and baked potatoes. greta's uncle owns this restaurant and she has been telling me about the burgers for quite some time. since i am leary about hamburgers, i was a lil apprehensive b/c they are HUGE! but lemme say they are friggin' delish! and the baked potatoes that came with em...oh.my.gosh.

after port of call, we went to our hotel to check in. we stayed at the prince conti hotel which is one of new orleans oldest hotels (and did i mention gorgeous??? i don't think i did...but it was). i love the feel of it. i kept walking around thinking "if these walls could talk".

once we had arrived at the hotel and gotten a lil settled it (i took pictures, mike went to the bathroom, i went to the bathroom, mike tested the bed ;) i came out and saw mike on the bed and noticed the strangest thing.

do you see it?

my wonderful hubby had been walking around with the tag still attached to his shirt. BWAAAHAHAHAHA!! no, most of the time he was in his coat, but he wasn't at the restaurant...lmao. he said this is why people were looking at him and smiling...lol. this could only happen to my hubbers (i take that back, this is something that would happen to me too, but mine woulda been a sticker on my ass letting everyone know my pant size).

after all of that, we met up with pat and mike in the lobby and did a lil walking around. we headed to the cigar store for mike and lush for us gals (oooh how i can't wait to take a bath with my bath bombs).

at this point it was still raining, but we decided to head on over to cafe du monde for cafe au lait before dinner (i wish we woulda been able to get beignets, but another time).

after we killed about an hour, it was time for our reservations at tujagues. dinner was fancy and yummy (hello crawfish..yum!). plus, the biggest event happened there: MY HUSBAND ATE FISH!!!!. now i couldn't get him to try the crawfish but baby steps. lil baby steps.

now we were all full and ready to hit the bar scene. so we headed over to pat o's for a few drinks.

we had a blast.

me and greta in front of the fountain at pat o's.

after a few more bars, we crashed. once we woke up (oh boy was that hard) and got moving, we headed to petunia's for the best damn breakfast that i have had in a long time. oh my gosh was it good. and the prices were unbelieveable.

again our bellies were full and it was time to head home.

we had a great time and i am so glad that we went (we were originally going to cancel b/c i felt like crap..but after we found out it was past cancellation time and we woulda had to pay for it anyway, we decided to go). and i am so glad that we did.

i hope everyone else had as much fun and i can't wait to go again (hint hint greta).

you can see the rest of the pictures here.

i'm selling these on good morning sunshine as a set (both the ornament and card).

i'm def. going to make a whole line (different games). one day, i'll have a game room in my house and these will happily be displayed :)

LOOK HOW LUCKY I AM!!!

the other day when i was checking out love joleen, i noticed that she was having a lil contest. all you had to do was leave a comment on this particular post and you were entered to win a WONDERFUL prize.

well, while i was at work today, i swung by again and noticed that I HAD WON!!! i couldn't believe it.

aren't these the cutest things? they are chalkboard tags. tags painted with chalkboard paint. now why couldn't i have thought of this???

and look at the lil picture she did to make the announcement:

how cute! and look at her new lil "baby".

thanks again joleen!!

maybe one day i will scrap this picture whenever i get around to doing my all about me album.

okay, off to give mikey back the puter and finish up my work :)

i am slowing crossing off items on my list. very, very slowly. i shouldn't even be blogging right now, but i needed the break and i want to make sure that during all this chaos, i don't stop bloggin'.

i haven't had a lot of time to blog surf and leave comments which makes me a lil sad. i love the inspiration everyone gives me.

hmmm...did anything exciting happen today that i could report.

NOPE!
